How the Picket Post Driver Came to the U.K.

Neil MacDonald, a fencing contractor based in the North of Scotland with 30 years experience in the business, was in Australia visiting his son in November 2001. Always on the look out for something different, he picked up a farming magazine to find himself confronted by a full page advert for a device the like of which he had never seen before - a hand held pneumatic post rammer.

He was due to go home in just a few days time, but the factory where these were made was just 11 miles away: one phone call was all it took, and he was on his way to see one. Once there he bought a 'Picket Post Driver' straight away - "No way was I going home without one !" he said.

In Australia the Picket Post Driver has been on the go for 16 years, and the factory sells 100 a month. It has the advantages of being light, easy to transport (all you need is a pickup) and whilst it is suitable for all types of work, it comes into its own in inaccessible places such as on very steep slopes or beneath low hanging trees. It is also easy to carry through trees spaced too tightly for a tractor to pass through.
